Hunt helps to get the next class started and decides to visit Centralia, North Dakota, and Butte, Montana to see how the new offices are coming together.
Hunt receives a heated letter from Garrett Davis, the Senator from Kentucky expressing his distaste for his son’s location and demands a reassignment in the East.
Hunt rides with Bill and the men on a detail in the Dakota territory to a small community consisting of a Wells Fargo Stagecoach stop, and a small trading post, known as Aberdeen. A stagecoach had been stopped and was robbed. One man was dead, and the driver was wounded.
Hunt continues to Butte to visit Zip Diamond and his men and finds one man had been seriously wounded by a drunken miner that thought the Deputy was spying on his mining claim.
Hunt returns to the Academy and has to intervene when one of the boys has failed his written exam and refuses to accept the fact that he is being rejected by the U.S. Marshal Service. Hunt likes the boy’s no-quit attitude and sets out to help him pass the written exam.
Hunt travels to New Orleans to help his old friend, U.S. Marshal Troop Peterson when four of his men ride into an ambush and two are seriously hurt.

As always, a great story , fast paced and seems to be taken from the pages of a Marshal's personal journal. Hunt is out and about on various missions. He is restless and bored with his desk job. I have read most of these books and enjoyed them more when Hunt was working in Denver and his involvement with his family and town business. He is a man of action and takes no BS or back talk and is a self-made man of great courage and character . He is a patriot and loving family man. He respects himself and others who earn it his way. He is the kind of man who helped build America and keeps it safe. He makes you proud to know him and probably will remind you of someone you know like him.Product details

WLC has penned the 33rd US Marshall Hunt Porter western, which includes opening three new District Offices and trying to maintain a certain experience level at each office. one our the Deputies, a Senator, attempts to have his son return home , but to no avail. Hunt leavers hide office to go to New Orleans to chase down 5 of the Q Raiders. This ius an excellent read for the genre.....ER
Solid addition to the Hunt series.
Not as good as the previous books.
Good description areas they went in order too capture the personal we're after. Once you started you had hard put it down.
I really like the Hunt-US Marshall books. I have read all 33 books and love them. For the most part they are predictable with some surprises. I will continue to read them. This book is great.
Mr Cox continues to write entertaining fictional stories with lots of action and intertwined plots.
I have (and continue to re-read) all of his works in both the Hunt and the Storm Warrior series.
May they continue for a long time.
My constant rating of 5 stars for WL Cox's western books show what I think of this author. He writes exciting, well written, and engrossing westerns. I anxiously await his next book. I know writing is a labor of love for authors with such detailed stories. They take a life of their own. If you like westerns and action stories, these books are for you. If you are new to this series, I envy you the adventure I would like to experience anew. You will love it. Lavonne Jones
